there was a little girl with a big imagination who always had her nose in a book!
I remember looking at picture books at a very young age. Little Golden books captivated me, even before I could read all the words. But once I knew the words and learned how to put them together, stories came pouring out.
The first story I remember writing was out of this world...a science fiction adventure about an alien family on another planet. I was in third grade. My teacher loved it and I remember thinking writing stories was pretty cool. From that point on, I wrote: lyrical leprechaun legends, silly sister stories (because I didn't have one, only brothers), and eventually the dreaded term papers.
After college, I worked in corporate communications as a copywriter and editor. It was a wonderful opportunity and I was surrounded by some of the most talented people in the industry. They were so generous with their time and I learned all aspects of writing, design and publication. That job was a great training ground for my secret dream of writing books.
Books are my oldest and dearest friends. I have laughed and cried with them. I've stayed up all night with them. And today, I am writing them.
I hope my books become your old and dear friends. May you laugh and cry with them and even read past your bedtime!
